Last year's championship

(This was actually put up in June of 2013)

Calloway County Chess Championships Winter 2012

The new Calloway County Chess Champion is Josiah Hereford.

A total of 20 players, adults and scholastics, from the county played in the Calloway County Chess Championships in the Curris Center on the MSU campus on Feb. 4.  The winner is a LAMP Homeschooler in the eighth grade!

In the scholastic categories:  The K-12 winner was Jake Zimmerer of Murray H S, second place went to Samuel Lewis of Murray Middle, and third to Benjamin Thome of LAMP Homeschoolers. 

The K-8 Champion was Nathan Weber of Murray Middle, second place went to Alex Thome of LAMP Homeschoolers, and third to Lucas Gray of Murray Middle.

In the K-5 section the winner was Liam Hereford a LAMP Homeschooler in the third grade.  Mason Lu of Murray Middle School took second place in the Elementary category was while third went to Jackson Hale of Calloway Co East.

The winner of the K-3 category was Nicholas Holcomb, Kevin Xu was second, Wesley McCuiston third, Gavin Klotz fourth, and Porter Chambers fifth. Honorable mention went to Ethan Sharp, Caleb Cauley, D. J. Claudio, and Giovanni Lopez.   All were from Murray Elementary.

The Tournament was directed by Mark Galloway, Wayne Bell, and Rhett Weber.
