Chess teaches foresight, by having to plan ahead; vigilance, by having to keep watch over the whole chess board; caution, by having to restrain ourselves from making hasty moves; and finally, we learn from chess the greatest maxim in life - that even when everything seems to be going badly for us we should not lose heart, but always hoping for a change for the better, steadfastly continue searching for the solutions to our problems. – Benjamin Franklin
The Club will promote the learning and playing of chess with meetings, lessons, and tournaments among people of all ages. We normally meet on Thursday from 5:00-7:30 PM in the Curris Center. The club is managed by the parents of chess playing children from both school systems and those who are home schooled. In W. KY, W Bell, T Knight, J Patterson, and J Hereford and others serve as coaches, teachers, and tournament directors. Check here to see what is happening on any given evening.
